Feb 28, 2015 · Like I said, mine is always 0.018" off no matter what I do, how I center the unit under the wheel in accordance with Oregon's instruction, etc. I did read the "fix" that Dr.D found for his 511AX hydraulic assist but I am not going to take apart the vice on mine to try and center it as it isn't even closely similar to his vice.

Aug 21, 2014 · It will be less expensive. The difference between that one and Oregon 511AX, is that it does not have the wheel wear feature. 'Better' is a matter of preference, just like between brands and models of saws. The 511AX claims to have a self-centering vice, and can do chains up to 3/4 pitch. Centering the vise on the 511A is manual.

I tried a cheaper green one from a local farm store. It was a piece of junk and wouldn,t keep the chain tight. Took it back and bought the Oregon saw sharpener and the quality is way better and it gets the job done. The Oregon was about two times as expensive as the green one I had but well worth the quality and good results.

Feb 08, 2013 · Trying to ferret out the difference in the Oregon grinders and the Tecomec counterparts is a real chore. Apparently there possibly three different iterations of the 511AX? Who knows trying to follow the advertising? The 511AX came out in 2009 and Oregon still doesn't have a manual for it. The manual comes up as the 511A
